39When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Praise be to the Lord, who has upheld my cause against Nabal for treating me with contempt. He has kept his servant from doing wrong and has brought Nabal’s wrongdoing down on his own head.”

For the Lord has returned the wickedness of Nabal on his own head.” Then David sent word to Abigail, proposing to take her as his wife.
39On hearing that Nabal was dead, David said, “Blessed be the Lord, who has upheld my cause against the reproach of Nabal and has restrained His servant from evil. For the Lord has brought the wickedness of Nabal down upon his own head.”
Then David sent word to Abigail, asking her to become his wife.
39David heard that Nabal was dead. So he said, “Give praise to the Lord. Nabal was rude to me. But the Lord stood up for me. He has kept me from doing something wrong. He has paid Nabal back for the wrong things he did.”
