2 Chronicles 10:14

14he followed the advice of the young men and said, “My father made your yoke heavy; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions.”

14He spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, “10:14 Many mss I have madeMy father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with 10:14 Prob. a brutal type of whipscorpions.”

14He spoke to them in accordance with the advice of the young men, saying, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.”

14and spoke to them as the young men had advised, saying, “Whereas my father made your yoke heavy,10:14 LXX and many Hebrew manuscripts (see also 1 Kings 12:14); MT Whereas I made your yoke heavy I will add to your yoke. Whereas my father scourged you with whips, I will scourge you with scorpions.”

14Instead, he followed the advice of the young men. He said, “My father put a heavy load on your shoulders. But I’ll make it even heavier. My father beat you with whips. But I’ll beat you with bigger whips.”
