Deuteronomy 14:7

7However, of those that chew the cud or that have a divided hoof you may not eat the camel, the rabbit or the hyrax. Although they chew the cud, they do not have a divided hoof; they are ceremonially unclean for you.

7However, you are not to eat these among the ones that 14:7 Lit bring upchew the cud, or among those that have the hoof divided in 14:7 Lit a cleavingtwo: the camel, the 14:7 Or harerabbit, and the rock hyrax, for though they 14:7 Lit bring upchew the cud, they do not have a divided hoof; they are unclean to you.

7Nevertheless, you are not to eat of these among those which chew the cud, or among those that divide the hoof in two: the camel and the rabbit and the shaphan, for though they chew the cud, they do not divide the hoof; they are unclean for you.

7But of those that chew the cud or have a completely divided hoof, you are not to eat the following:

7Some animals only chew the cud. Others only have a divided hoof. The camel, rabbit and rock badger chew the cud, but they don’t have a divided hoof. So you can’t eat them. They are not “clean” for you.
