13I saw that wisdom is better than folly,

just as light is better than darkness.

13Then I saw that wisdom surpasses foolishness as light surpasses darkness.

13And I saw that wisdom excels folly as light excels darkness.

13Then I saw that [even secular] wisdom [that brings sorrow] is better than [the pleasures of] folly and self-indulgence as light excels darkness.

13And I saw that wisdom exceeds folly, just as light exceeds darkness:
