Genesis 6:3

3Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not contend with6:3 Or My spirit will not remain in humans forever, for they are mortal6:3 Or corrupt; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.”

3Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not 6:3 Or rule in; or strive with; meaning uncertainremain with man forever, 6:3 Or in his going astray he is fleshbecause he is also flesh; 6:3 Or thereforenevertheless his days shall be 120 years.”

3Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”

3Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive and remain with man forever, because he is indeed flesh [sinful, corrupt—given over to sensual appetites]; nevertheless his days shall yet be 6:3 This may refer to the time given man to repent before the flood, or to the normative human life span after the flood.a hundred and twenty years.”

3So the Lord said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever,6:3 LXX and Syriac My Spirit will not remain in man forever for he is mortal; his days shall be 120 years.”

3Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not struggle with human beings forever. They will have only 120 years to live.”
