Hebrews 6:13

13When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself,

13For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear an oath by no one greater, He swore by Himself,

13For when God made the promise to Abraham, He swore [an oath] by Himself, since He had no one greater by whom to swear,

13When God made his promise to Abraham, God gave his word. There was no one greater than himself to promise by. So he promised by making an appeal to himself.

13God made a promise to Abraham many years ago. God used the authority of his own name to show that his promise was true. He did that because there was nobody greater than himself. His name showed that the promise was very serious.

13For God, having made promise to Abraham, seeing He was not able to swear by [any] greater, swore by Himself,
