James 4:3

3When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

3You ask [God for something] and do not receive it, because you ask with wrong motives [out of selfishness or with an unrighteous agenda], so that [when you get what you want] you may spend it on your [hedonistic] desires.

3And when you do ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may squander it on your pleasures.

3Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may spend it in your pleasures.

3Ye aske, and receiue not, because ye aske amisse, that ye might lay the same out on your pleasures.

3When you do ask for something, you don’t receive it. That’s because you ask for the wrong reason. You want to spend your money on your sinful pleasures.

3Even when you do ask God, you do not receive anything. That is because you ask for the wrong reason. You just want to use these things to make yourselves happy.
