James 4:3

3When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

3You ask [God for something] and do not receive it, because you ask 4:3 Lit wrongly.with wrong motives [out of selfishness or with an unrighteous agenda], so that [when you get what you want] you may spend it on your [hedonistic] desires.

3And when you do ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may squander it on your pleasures.

3When you do ask for something, you don’t receive it. That’s because you ask for the wrong reason. You want to spend your money on your sinful pleasures.
