14“Anyone who withholds kindness from a friend

forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

14¶“For the despairing man there should be kindness from his friend;

So that he does not abandon the fear of the Almighty.

14A despairing man should have the kindness of his friend,

even if he forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

14To him that is ready to faint kindness should be showed from his friend;

Even to him that forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.

14He that is in miserie, ought to be comforted of his neighbour: but men haue forsaken the feare of the Almightie.

14“To him who is ready to faint, kindness should be shown from his friend;

even to him who forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

14“A person shouldn’t stop being kind to a friend.

Anyone who does that stops showing respect for the Mighty One.

14When a man has no hope,

his friends should be kind to him.

They should help him,

even if he no longer respects God Almighty.

14To a despiser of his friends [is] shame, || And the fear of the Mighty he forsakes.
