25That same night the Lord said to him, “Take the second bull from your father’s herd, the one seven years old.6:25 Or Take a full-grown, mature bull from your father’s herd Tear down your father’s altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole6:25 That is, a wooden symbol of the goddess Asherah; also in verses 26, 28 and 30 beside it.
25Now on the same night the Lord said to him, “Take your father’s bull 6:25 Or evenand a second bull seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal which belongs to your father, and cut down the 6:25 I.e., wooden symbol of a female deity; also vv 26, 28, 30Asherah that is beside it;
25Now on the same night the Lord said to him, “Take your father’s bull and a second bull seven years old, and pull down the altar of Baal which belongs to your father, and cut down the I.e. wooden symbol of a female deity, also vv 26, 28, 30Asherah that is beside it;
25Now on that same night the Lord said to Gideon, “Take your father’s bull, the second bull seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that belongs to your father, and cut down 6:25 I.e. a wooden pole set up to honor a pagan goddess.the Asherah that is beside it;
25On that very night the Lord said to Gideon, “Take your father’s young bull and a second bull seven years old, tear down your father’s altar to Baal, and cut down the Asherah pole beside it.
25That same night the Lord spoke to Gideon. He said, “Get the second bull from your father’s herd. Get the one that is seven years old. Tear down the altar your father built to honor the god named Baal. Cut down the pole beside it. The pole is used to worship the female god named Asherah.
