Judges 9:23

23God stirred up animosity between Abimelek and the citizens of Shechem so that they acted treacherously against Abimelek.

23Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the leaders of Shechem; and the leaders of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech,

23Then God stirred up trouble between Abimelek and the citizens of Shechem. So they turned against Abimelek. They decided not to follow him anymore.

23Then God caused the leaders of Shechem to turn against Abimelech. They were no longer friends.

23and God sends an evil spirit between Abimelech and the masters of Shechem, and the masters of Shechem deal treacherously with Abimelech,
