Mark 2:4

4Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on.

The parallel passage in Luke explains that “they went up on the roof and lowered him through the tiles” (5:19).removed the roof above Jesus; and when they had dug out an opening, they let down the mat on which the paralyzed man was lying.

4Since they were unable to get to Jesus through the crowd, they uncovered the roof above Him, made an opening, and lowered the paralytic on his mat.

4But they could not get him close to Jesus because of the crowd. So they made a hole by digging through the roof above Jesus. Then they lowered the man through it on a mat.
