7Eloquent lips are unsuited to a godless fool—

how much worse lying lips to a ruler!

7 17:7 Lit A lip of abundanceExcellent speech is not fitting for a fool,

Much less are lying lips to a prince.

7Excellent speech is not fitting for a fool,

Much less are lying lips to a prince.

7Excellent speech does not benefit a fool [who is spiritually blind],

Much less do lying lips benefit a prince.

7Eloquent words are unfit for a fool;

how much worse are lying lips to a ruler!

7Fancy words don’t belong in the mouths of ungodly fools.

And lies certainly don’t belong in the mouths of rulers!
