Romans 4:13

13It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.

13Abraham and his family received a promise. God promised that Abraham would receive the world. It would not come to him because he obeyed the law. It would come because of his faith, which made him right with God.

13God promised Abraham and his descendants that the world would belong to them one day. God did not promise this because Abraham obeyed any rules. God promised it because Abraham believed in him. That is why God accepted Abraham as right with him.

13For not through law [is] the promise to Abraham, or to his seed, of his being heir of the world, but through the righteousness of faith;
