Romans 8:20

20For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope

20The created world was held back from fulfilling its purpose. But this was not the result of its own choice. It was planned that way by the one who held it back. God planned

20God has caused everything in the universe to lose its purpose. It did not choose to be like that. It was God who decided that it should be like that. Then it could hope for something better in a future time.
