Romans 9:31

31but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal.

31however, Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law.

31whereas Israel, [though always] pursuing the law of righteousness, did not succeed in fulfilling the law. [Is 51:1]

31The people of Israel tried to obey the law to make themselves right with God. But they didn’t reach their goal of being right with God.

31Israel's people tried to find a law that would make them right with God. But they failed to become right with God.

31and Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at a law of righteousness;
