26To Abiathar the priest the king said, “Go back to your fields in Anathoth. You deserve to die, but I will not put you to death now, because you carried the ark of the Sovereign Lord before my father David and shared all my father’s hardships.”
26Then to Abiathar the priest the king said, “Go to Anathoth to your own field, for you 2:26 Lit are a man of deathdeserve to die; but I will not put you to death at this 2:26 Lit daytime, because you carried the ark of the Lord 2:26 Heb YHWH, usually rendered LordGod before my father David, and because you were afflicted in everything with which my father was afflicted.”
26Then to Abiathar the priest the king said, “Go to Anathoth to your own field, for you deserve to die; but I will not put you to death at this time, because you carried the ark of the Lord God before my father David, and because you were afflicted in everything with which my father was afflicted.”
26Then the king said to Abiathar the priest, “Go to Anathoth to your own fields, for you 2:26 Lit are a man of death.certainly deserve to die; but I will not put you to death this day, because you carried the ark of the Lord God before my father David, and you suffered everything that my father endured.”
26Then the king said to Abiathar the priest, “Go back to your fields in Anathoth. Even though you deserve to die, I will not put you to death at this time, since you carried the ark of the Lord GOD before my father David, and you suffered through all that my father suffered.”
26The king spoke to Abiathar the priest. He said, “Go back to your fields in Anathoth. You should really be put to death. But I won’t have it done now. That’s because you carried the ark of the Lord and King. You did it for my father David. You shared all of his hard times.”
