5David answered the priest and said to him, “Be assured, women have been denied to us as previously when I left and the 21:5 Lit vesselsbodies of the young men were consecrated, though it was an ordinary journey; how much more then will 21:5 Lit it be holy in the vesseltheir bodies be consecrated today?”
5David answered the priest and said to him, “Surely women have been kept from us as previously when I set out and the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was an ordinary journey; how much more then today will their vessels be holy?”
5David answered the priest, “Be assured that 21:5 I.e. intimate contact with women.women have been kept from us in these three days since I set out, and the 21:5 Lit vessels, a euphemism for the human body.bodies of the young men were consecrated (ceremonially clean), although it was an ordinary (unconsecrated) journey; so how much more will their vessels be holy today?”
5David answered, “Women have indeed been kept from us, as is usual when I set out. And the bodies of the young men are holy even on common missions. How much more so today!”
5David replied, “Well, we haven’t slept with women recently. That’s the way it is every time I lead my men out to battle. We keep ourselves holy even when we do jobs that aren’t holy. And that’s even more true today.”
