1 Thessalonians 2:17

17But, brothers and sisters, when we were orphaned by being separated from you for a short time (in person, not in thought), out of our intense longing we made every effort to see you.

17But we, brothers and sisters, having been orphaned from you by absence for a 2:17 Lit occasion of an hourshort while—in 2:17 Lit faceperson, not in 2:17 Lit heartspirit—were all the more eager with great desire to see your face.

17But we, brethren, having been taken away from you for a short while—in person, not in spirit—were all the more eager with great desire to see your face.

17But since we were taken away from you, believers, for a little while—in person, but not in heart—we endeavored, with great longing to see you face to face.

17Brothers, although we were torn away from you for a short time (in person, not in heart), our desire to see you face to face was even more intense.

17Brothers and sisters, we were separated from you for a short time. Apart from you, we were like children without parents. We were no longer with you in person. But we kept you in our thoughts. We really wanted to see you. So we tried very hard to do so.
