Mark 2:19

19Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them.

19And Jesus said to them, “While the groom is with them, 2:19 Lit sons of the bridal chamberthe attendants of the groom cannot fast, can they? As long as they have the groom with them, they cannot fast.

19And Jesus said to them, “While the bridegroom is with them, the attendants of the bridegroom cannot fast, can they? So long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.

19Jesus answered, “The attendants of the bridegroom 2:19 Jewish tradition (as recorded in the Talmud) held that it was a religious duty to congratulate and entertain the bride and groom during the wedding festivities. By analogy, Jesus is saying that His disciples ought to rejoice while He is with them rather than engage in fasting, which was a sign of mourning.cannot fast while the bridegroom is [still] with them, can they? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.

19Jesus replied, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while He is with them? As long as He is with them, they cannot fast.

19Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the groom go without eating while he is with them? They will not fast as long as he is with them.
