7Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults;

whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.

7¶One who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself,

And one who rebukes a wicked person gets 9:7 Lit a blemishinsults for himself.

And he who reproves a wicked man gets insults for himself.

7He who corrects a mocker brings shame on himself;

he who rebukes a wicked man taints himself.

7When you correct someone who makes fun of others, you might be laughed at.

When you warn a sinner, you might get hurt.
