Romans 9:7

7Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”9:7 Gen. 21:12

7nor are they all children because they are Abraham’s 9:7 Lit seeddescendants, but: “9:7 Lit inthrough Isaac your 9:7 Lit seeddescendants shall be named.”

7nor are they all children because they are Abraham’s descendants, but: “through Isaac your descendants will be named.”

7and they are not all the children of Abraham because they are his descendants [by blood], but [the promise was]: “Your descendants will be named through Isaac” [though Abraham had other sons]. [Gen 21:9-12]

7Nor because they are Abraham’s descendants are they all his children. On the contrary, “Through Isaac your offspring will be reckoned.”9:7 Genesis 21:12

7Not everyone in Abraham’s family line is really his child. Not at all! Scripture says, “Your family line will continue through Isaac.” (Genesis 21:12)
