1 Thessalonians 4:13

13Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

13But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who 4:13 I.e., have diedare asleep, so that you will not grieve as indeed the rest of mankind do, who have no hope.

13But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.

13Now we do not want you to be uninformed, believers, about those who are asleep [in death], so that you will not grieve [for them] as the others do who have no hope [beyond this present life].

13Brothers, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death,4:13 Literally those who have fallen asleep, as in verses 14 and 15 so that you will not grieve like the rest, who are without hope.

13Brothers and sisters, we want you to know what happens to those who die. We don’t want you to mourn, as other people do. They mourn because they don’t have any hope.
