James 4:5

5Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?

5Or do you think that the Scripture says to no purpose, “He jealously desires the Spirit whom He has made to dwell in us”?

5Or do you think that the Scripture says to no purpose that the [human] spirit which He has made to dwell in us lusts with envy? [Gen 6:5]

5Or do you think the Scripture says without reason that the Spirit He caused to dwell in us yearns with envy?

5Or think ye that the scripture speaketh in vain? Doth the spirit which he made to dwell in us long unto envying?

5Doe ye thinke that the Scripture sayeth in vaine, The spirit that dwelleth in vs, lusteth after enuie?

5Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”?

5Don’t you know what Scripture says? God wants the spirit in us to belong only to him. God caused this spirit to live in us. Don’t you think Scripture has a reason for saying this?

5The Bible says, ‘God has caused his Spirit to live in us. He wants very much to keep us for himself.’ Do you think that is not true?

5Or, do you think that the Writing says emptily, “The Spirit that has dwelt in us yearns with envy,”
